Mother’s Day was wonderful. You couldn’t have asked for better weather. My children and their families came over and brought all the fixins’. My son barbecued and my daughter cooked. I received two home made Mother’s Day Cards from my 9 year old and my 21 year old grandsons.

We were all on the patio and my daughter decided to cut the cake. I went inside to get a knife and when I came back, I found a little visitor in my chair.

“HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY MOM….WHERE’S MY PIECE OF CAKE?”

CHIHUAHUA RACES PART 2

On May 5th I did a post about the Petco Unleashed Chihuahua Races that were held last Saturday in San Bruno, California. I had also posted a photo of Chloe, the winner of the Chihuahua races…or so I thought. The Chihuahua Race was a hot topic, and I received a lot of visitors on my post. One of the visitors was the owner of Chloe, the little Chi Pug mix who won that race. Chloe’s mom told me that the picture I posted was not of Chloe, and if I wanted a picture, she would be glad to email one to me. Well folks, I am here to say that I now have bonafide pictures of Chloe, the first place winner and the speediest Chihuahua of the PETCO Unleashed Chihuahua Races 2008! I was also privileged to get a little more information about Chloe herself.

Katrina and Mel Soledad adopted Chloe and her brother in May 2006 from the Tri-City Animal Shelter in Fremont California. They had always wanted a dog that looked like a Labrador retriever puppy but wouldn’t get as big as a retriever. Then they saw Chloe in the pound and knew that Chloe was the dog of their dreams. When they adopted Chloe, they were warned that Chloe was a jumper, a licker and an “escape artist”.

Katrina and Mel take Chloe on hiking trails at Bayfront Park that contains large hiking trails, and lots of squirrels, ducks and rabbits that run around. Chloe loves to check out all the animals and loves to run. She can sprint 150 to 200 feet in a flash.

This was Chloe’s second time participating in the PETCO Unleashed Chihuahua Races. The first time Chloe participated, Katrina saw the race for the World’s Fastest Chihuahua on the Oprah Show two days before the competition that was to take place in San Bruno. They entered Chloe and she came in second! Since this was Chloe’s first race, they didn’t know the tricks other dog owners were using. The winning dog’s owners were dangling hot dogs and toys at the finish line.

This year they entered Chloe and she came in first place clocking in at 1.6 seconds! Congratulations Chloe on your win. We hope you do well at the Finals at PETCO Park in San Diego on August 31st!

Katrina will be reading this post, so I would like all of my bloggy friends to congratulate Chloe and wish her well on the upcoming PETCO Unleashed Chihuahua Races in August!

CHLOE IS COMING IN FIRST LEAVING A TRAIL OF DUST BEHIND HER!

MEL AND KATRINA JUMPING FOR JOY!

CHLOE IS BEING AWARDED FIRST PLACE

KATRINA, CHLOE AND THE FIRST PLACE RIBBON

CHLOE WITH THE “REAL PRIZE”….ICE CREAM THE TREAT OF CHAMPIONS!

Isn’t Chloe a cutie pie? She looks like she is full of energy, and she is ice cream powered!

Hi everybody…Tinky here…..Sissy just told me that she just found out it was going to be Mothers Day this Sunday and her and Jonesy and me should do something nice for mom. We all got together and brain stormed. You see, three little brains make one big brain!  After a lot of discussion, this is what we thought mom would like for Mothers Day.

First we are going to wake her gently with lots and lots of licks. I have to remind Jonesy that he is NOT to target the inside of mom’s nose. She hates that! Then we are going to serve her breakfast in bed. I know exactly where Sissy has hidden her bone and I will bring it to her. I think I might know where a really delicious corn chip is too. I think I saw one in the corner.

Then we will let her rub our tummies because we know that she likes to do this the most.  Then when she is so deliriously happy, we will bring out the big guns!

TAA DAA!!!!!

She won’t know what hit her! We would also like to wish our bloggy mommy friends, a very Happy Mothers Day. I am curious…what are you going to do for Mother’s Day?

The Fourth Annual “Petco Unleashed Chihuahua Races” were held at The Shops at Tanforan Parking lot last Saturday in San Bruno California. The Winner was Chloe, a 3 yeard old Chihuahua Pug mix(”Pughuahua”). Chloe was one of 240 dogs who competed Saturday.  It took her just 1.6 seconds to sprint down the 35 foot track that was laid out in the San Bruno parking lot, which is in all liklihood the quickest record so far, said the race organizers.

I would love to enter Jonesy, Sissy and Tinky, but knowing my dogs, Jonesy would just stand there with his eyes bulging out and he would shiver. Hey, maybe if they had a Chihuahua shivering contest, he would be a likely candidate. Sissy wouldn’t do well in the fastest Chihuahua contest. I can just see her waddling down to the finish line in last place. Tinky wouldn’t run…she would stand on her back feet and boing….boing…..boing…to the finish line. All three of my dogs would come in last.

Races also took place in the New York, Boston, Denver and San Diego areas last Saturday. Winners of all the races will square off August 31 at Petco Park in San Diego for the title of America’s fastest Chihuahua. First Prize is a trophy, $300.00 Petco Gift card, a years supply of pet food and bragging rights.

THIS IS CHLOE….THE WINNER!

GOPHER MAN AT WORK

I’m at work and the Gopher Man was going to swing by my place this morning to take care of a little business with a certain gopher that has been making himself home by burrowing tunnels all through my back yard. Just this morning I found another little mound in my yard where he had dug up yet another hole. There are so many holes in my back yard I can’t count them.

Even though Sissy is a Chihuahua I think she has a little bird dog (or maybe gopher dog) in her. Every time I let the dogs outside, she runs right over to the latest gopher hole, sticks her nose in there and she must sniff a hundred times. She puts her left leg up like pointers do and fixes her eyes upon that hole. I have even seen her digging. I don’t encourage this behavior as I am afraid that she is going to come up with a short muzzle once that gopher gets a hold of her.

Yes, today I am afraid to go home. I can just imagine that the Gopher Man came over this morning, put whatever it is they use to get rid of gophers in that hole and then left. I just hope and pray that the pesky gopher didn’t come out of his hole, stagger around on the lawn, and plop over dead. I don’t want to find him with his tongue hanging out, and his eyes open staring at me. I can not pick up any dead gopher! Not even if you gave me a hundred dollars to do it.

I am sorry I haven’t blogged in awhile. I have been busy tracking Jonesy, Tinky and Sissy. They took off with Dennis in some underground contraption to find a gopher kingdom. I found out that they caught a gopher and found their way back up to the surface of the earth. I think their crew wants to interrogate the gopher before they come back.

I have also been busy tracking a gopher in my yard. I have been trying to get a gopher out of my yard for about 2 3 months now. As you know I have tried almost everything to get rid of that gopher but everything has failed. I was hoping that Dennis and the Gopher Broke would swing by my place first and get that pesky gopher out of my yard first before they ventured out to find the gopher kingdom.

I finally gave in and called an exterminator. I couldn’t find one that was having a sale on gopher eradication  so I had to apply for a loan at my bank in order to pay these guys. They will be here Thursday with a follow up in a week from Friday. I asked them, why the follow up? Here is their answer. The gopher(s) move around and may vacate the burrow. They follow up in a week to see if they got ‘em.

My bet is the gopher will still be here next month.

I found the cutest picture of a Yorkie sleeping in a car seat the other day. This little doggy reminded me of my little bloggy friend Rusty at Chasing Squirrels With Rusty.  I posted the picture on my blog and all my bloggy friends agreed that this little doggy did look a lot like him.

Rusty’s mom saw my post and thought it would be a great idea to take a picture of Rusty in a car seat too, and posted the picture on his site. Oh my gosh…..was it ever cute! Rusty is much much cuter than that old imposter.  I want to trade Tinky for Rusty. Hey, Rusty…you wanna come live in California?

*THIS IS THE REAL RUSTY!

THIS IS THE IMPOSTER “RUSTY”

Oh my gosh, seeing all these little doggys in car seats wants me to bother my son for more grandchildren!

Here’s an award that I have never seen before. And wouldn’t you know that Beth at Around The Funny Farm would be handing this out. I love it, and I love Beth’s blog. She is a country girl in Pennsylvania, and I am a city slicker in California. We belong to “The Mutual Admiration Society”. We seem to love each others blogs. I love her humor and her lifestyle. Although I am a bit jealous because she seems to have much much more fun than I do. You should stop by her blog and say, “Hi”. And tell her I sent ya.

Isn’t This Award Cute?

I am going to post it on my Awards page. If you would like to see all my Awards, just click on “Awards” at the upper right hand side on my sidebar.

I am going to pass this Award on to some of my great bloggie friends:

  • Gina at Gina’s Public Diary. I don’t think Gina has missed one of my blog posts.  She is my most loyal reader and is the sweetest woman you would ever want to know.
  • Sharon at Hustle Hag. She is also a long time reader and she has given me numerous awards. I think I will give this cute Award to her. She is well deserving.
  • Joy at Joy of Desserts. She gets one because she is my bestest friend. She is honest, loyal, and I have learned a lot from her.
  • Mercedes at  Mercedes World. I can’t describe Mercedes enough. She is always so full of energy and must be doing a hundred things at once. She is a lot of fun.
  • Tony at TazBlog. I can’t help it, I have to give him this Award. I loooove his blog. You gotta go over there right away, he is sending Flat Tony around the world.
  • Cara at Deed Fried Apple Pies. She is a military wife and her blog is so interesting. I feel like she is my friend. We have a lot in common.

I hope you like your Award that I have bestowed upon you. Feel free to pass it along.

I came across this cute little picture of a doggy all buckled up and sleeping in the back seat of a car. This little doggy resembles a dog we all know and love. Let’s see if you can guess who this little guy looks like.

Let’s see…this little dog lives in Texas, loves to chase squirrels and his little human nephew. He loves Sonic drinks. He used to get into the pantry where the trash was kept by nuzzling his nose against the door. His mom had to fix that. Until they put a cat door on the bathroom, he liked to get into the kitty litter box and get him a few “tootsie rolls”. Can you guess that this looks like our little buddy Rusty?
